Marco Campardo doesn’t create designs entirely from zero. Instead, he finds inspiration in various elements that shape a project, often drawn either to the selection of specific materials or identifying innovative solutions in response to the constraints of individual projects. His approach emphasizes a thoughtful exploration of existing resources and a keen awareness of how to navigate the limitations inherent in each design.

This exhibition in Tirana is almost a manifesto of this attitude and is a further development of a research around making design and reflecting on its possibilities today. “Live edges” is a constellation of different pieces all designed for the occasion. A bench, a console table, two stools, three shelves and a plinth, a coffee table (all in wood) and three mirrors. The shapes are inspired by a childhood game in which you draw with a thick marker keeping the lines parallel and the same distances.

The title of the exhibition is an ironic hack on the so-called “live edge” meaning the unfinished edge in woodworking.
