EXHIBITION: “WHO ELSE HOLDS THAT FIELD DEAR?”

This exhibition is the result of the Grain artistic residency, created in collaboration between Kultura Medialna NGO and the Hospitalfield House art center in Scotland. During the residency, artists explored the impact of Russian colonialism on the Ukrainian landscape and the concept of Ukraine as the “breadbasket” in the context of the full-scale invasion.

“Who Else Holds That Field Dear?” delves into the themes of grain, seeds, and the fundamental right of people to work their own land. The participating artists reflect on humanity’s impact on nature, document daily survival routines, and engage with both collective and personal memory. They also highlight the devastating effects of Russian aggression, including the destruction of Ukraine’s fertile lands, which disrupts global food security.
