Lukas Kaufmann: Palampore

Opening: Friday, October 17, 2025, 7 p.m.

October 18–November 1, 2025

Lukas Kaufmann’s series of images visualize the interpenetration of inside and outside beyond the boundaries of spatial and emotional paradigms. His portraits, which oscillate between extrospection and introspection, combine with the intricate ornamentation of floral textiles. The ornamentation of these fabrics, often used in interiors, is a stylized depiction of plant-covered outdoor spaces such as gardens or forests. In Kaufmann’s images, branched branches and sprawling blossoms become not only backgrounds with attributes of the private, but rather synaptic extensions of the thoughts and inner states of the portrayed individuals. This creates a network of ideal references and intimate worlds of sensation.

Lukas Kaufmann (*1993 in Klagenfurt, Austria) lives and works in Vienna. He graduated from the University of Applied Arts in 2021.
