TALK: OP-TALKS | HIDDEN PARAMETERS | EXHIBITION TOUR WITH DR. MARTA MICHALSKA

On November 20th at 5:00 PM, OP ENHEIM invites you to a guided tour of the group exhibition “Hidden Parameters” – Anna Bera, Huba (Jakub Ciemachowski and Piotr Kołakowski), Agata Marchlewicz, Olga Micińska, Olga Milczyńska/Wiesław Bartkowski, P55 Mirrors (Beata Ludwin and Łukasz Wołek), Rest (Dominika Gacka and Julia Piekarska), Jakub Święcicki, Iza Tarasewicz, Zinaida Tchelidze, and Marek Wodzisławski. The tour will be led by Dr. Marta Michalska.

During the guided tour, inspired by the curatorial text, we will focus on the concept of “getting stuck” and use it as a guide through the parameters of memory, archive, and philosophical wading present in the exhibition. We will ask ourselves an infinite number of unanswered questions; perhaps we will conclude that we don’t need these answers, because the process of asking ourselves questions is more important. We will examine whether we can extract sounds and audiospheres from the works on display, whether they stimulate our sonic imagination.

Marta Michalska – a doctor of history and a researcher of sounds in the past; she writes, edits, and occasionally sings. She writes and speaks about how we experience the sounds around us and how we can explore sounds that have already disintegrated in the historical noise. She is particularly interested in the philosophical perspective of sonic imagination and methods for researching social and cultural history in the 19th and 20th centuries. She received an award from the Foundation for Polish Science in the FNP MONOGRAPHS competition, which resulted in the publication of the book “Sounds, People, and Listening to the City. Selected Elements of the Phonosphere of Warsaw at the Turn of the 20th Century” (2024). The book was also nominated for the Warsaw Literary Award (2025) and the Jan Długosz Award (2025).

She is interested in performing new music and participates in the Summer Courses of New Music in Bydgoszcz organized by the Harmonie i Nołasy Foundation, in the singing class of Joanna Freszel. She leads sound walks and workshops that open ears to the soundscape.
