Victory belongs to women – women of Vojvodina in the fight against fascism

On the occasion of marking eight decades since the victory over fascism, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Vojvodina and the Museum of Vojvodina are organizing the exhibition “Victory belongs to women – women of Vojvodina in the fight against fascism”, which will be open to the public from November 7 to December 7, 2025 at Dunavska 37.

Within the chronological-thematic concept, and through historical objects, documents, artworks and personal biographies of individual activists, the public will be presented with various aspects of women’s engagement in the fight against fascism. A special step forward in terms of this exhibition of a historical nature is the inclusion of works by contemporary female artists (Milica Tomić, Milica Dukić, Milica Rakić and Jelena Jureša), who in their creativity also sought inspiration in the activities of their brave predecessors from World War II.

The concept focused on anti-fascism, the process of women’s emancipation and the construction of a gender-equal society is highlighted as one that connects not only two different institutions, time frames – the past and the present, but also constitutes a possible example of a mechanism of joint work and public action. The introduction of a piece of contemporary art aims to affirm positive historical practices, important for both the contemporary socio-political and artistic context.

Authors of the exhibition : Kristina Meneši, Dr. Sanja Kojić Mladenov, Dr. Aleksandar Horvat and Vojislav Martinov.
