EXHIBITION: MELANCHOLY

OPENING: 08/11/2024, 19.00

More than six decades ago, a madman created a rebellious work, and today his followers, driven mad, pay tribute to the mad master…” — Edward Balassanian, 2003.

This exhibition invites you to discover the story behind the creation of Yervand Kochar’s sculpture “Melancholy.” This sculpture, located in front of the Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art  (NPAK) in Yerevan, is a four-fold cast version of the plaster sculpture created in 1957.

The exhibition will feature the works of artists that deeply explore the influence of Kochar’s art and the value of his creations. Each piece presents new perspectives and offers a re-evaluation of the significance of art and its social impact.

Curators: Bela Pogosian, Silvana Chobanian.

Poster design by Araz Bogharian
