Petrohradská kolektiv announces an open call for artists to participate in an international program of Artist in Residence for the year 2026. The resulting outcomes of the residencies will be showcased us part of the public programme of Petrohradská kolektiv.
About Petrohradská kolektiv residency program
The residency at Petrohradská kolektiv offers participants the opportunity to live and work in Prague, Czech Republic, for two months. The program aims to provide participants with the time, space, and focus to develop their artistic practice while engaging in an exchange with other artists and researchers. Petrohradská kolektiv is open to professionals across various disciplines, including visual arts, design, architecture, research, theory, performing arts, sound, material research/craft, and film. Proposals from practitioners in other fields are also welcome.
During the residency, four mentoring meetings and/or studio visits with Czech-based artists and curators will be organized. Artists are expected to participate in at least one public presentation of their work during the residency.
Who are we looking for?
AiR Petrohradská kolektiv is open for anyone from Czechia and abroad.
The residency program with public outcome is intended for active artists and creators, who desire independence and want space and technical support for working on their projects. That’s what the Petrohradská kolektiv AiR program offers in the heart of a multi-genre cultural center in Prague. The goal of the program is creating an open platform for international artistic dialogue, interconnection of different cultures, and support for emerging artists working with diverse media formats and topics.

Residence is an opportunity for independent professional development, artistic exchange, networking, and experiments. Residencies are intended for creators with an interest in creative exchange and participation and involvement within Prague’s contemporary art scene.
What do we offer?
Accommodation in shared apartment and Studio Petrohradská kolektiv provides a shared flat with a private bedroom, kitchen, bathroom. Artists can stay in the residency with children and one additional guest, with a fee of €12 per night for guests over 11 years old. The selection will be made by a committee consisting of members of Petrohradská kolektiv and the artist and curator Šárka Basjuk Koudelová, who has co-curated the AiR program with Edita Malina since 2026.

Before submitting your application, please read the following
In the application form you’ll be asked to
/ enter following data: Basic information: name, date and place of birth (used only for our internal administration), citizenship, email address, phone number, website.
/ answer questions in English about motivation for the residency, or a project proposal and an idea for its implementation, in particular with regard to how the residency can benefit the applicant’s artistic practice.
/ send material written in English to opencall at petrohradskakolektiv dot com with the subject ‘Opencall_Petro_2026’: CV; a portfolio, motivation letter
Application conditions:
* Participation in the residential program requires communication skills in English
* Residents of the program are not allowed to leave for more than 7 days in the duration of their stay in the place of the residence.
* The residence must be completed within the specified period and it is not possible to interrupt it.
* Each resident is obligated to prepare a final report of their stay including a photo documentation (single document in PDF).
Selection criteria:
* Professional artistic practice and relevant experience in public presentation of work.
* Necessity of conducting work in a artist-run-space like Petrohradská kolektiv.
* The residency’s potential impact on the applicant’s artistic development.
