EXHIBITION: WHISPERS STRAIGHT TO THE BELLY
OPENING: 02/08/2024, 18.00 – 21.00
“Whispers straight to the belly / Z wierzchu niezrozumiałość”, is a three-person exhibition featuring the work of Ernest Borowski, Kacper Greń, and Agnieszka Strzeżek.
Ritual – performing/performative ecology, or, how we learn and perpetuate belonging.
Queer – ing family-making and self-preservation, motherhood, humanness.
Language – affirming visibility; the act of naming, the act of claiming.
Mouth – porous body, transitional organ, site for and of transmission.
Sharing questions about social rituals, and those whom are not represented within such traditional practices – namely queer communities and single mothers – the three-person exhibition Whispers straight to the belly / Z wierzchu niezrozumiałość is a space where artists Ernest Borowski, Kacper Greń, Agnieszka Strzeżek ask how such ceremonies can be used to both affirm and alienate. They present works that contemplate the embodied experience as it intersects with social and political structures, post-human connectivity, history as a tool for shaping future, and language and its shortcomings/inabilities/flexibility. All of it becoming fluid tools for connection or disruption, and sites for queering spaces of normativity and exclusion.
Hyacinth flowers and cut hair. Hybrid bodies humming words we can not know, silence consumed in cakes, pink cards and motherhood. Whispers straight to the belly / Z wierzchu niezrozumiałość is a public musing on that which is optimal through fractured, prismed, de-centered and re-configured Polish lenses.
Exhibition will be on view until 06.09. by appointment.
