Open call for the 2nd edition of Blue Lagoon School – an independent, artist-run summer programme taking place in Riga, Latvia. Established by artists Evita Vasiļjeva and Kaspars Groševs as a platform for sharing knowledge and creative strategies, Blue Lagoon School brings together experienced practitioners with curious minds for an intensive 6-day hands-on learning experience. This year’s programme highlights trial and error as a method for creative exploration and welcomes participants of all ages and backgrounds.
You will meet artist Anastasia Sosunova (Vilnius) and curator Siim Preiman (Tallinn) as guest tutors alongside some very special surprise appearances. The programme’s focus is placed upon experimental teaching methods, primary materials, shared discussions, and cross-disciplinary approaches to art, language, and process.
Blue Lagoon School is open to anyone between the ages of 16 and 99 who wants to discover new perspectives in their creative process. The programme aims to develop manual and intellectual skills through collective and individual work, gestural constellations, experimental studies, and sketches. It is a safe place where one can search, get lost and find their way back through uncharted paths, exploring different modes of imagination.
In 2026, Blue Lagoon School will hold its second convocation on August 10 and will have classes all the way to August 15 at Kim? Contemporary Art Centre in Riga, Hanzas street 22.
Blue Lagoon School is organised in cooperation with Kim? Contemporary Art Centre and 427 Gallery.

Results announcement: June 8, 2026.
Participation fee: 130 EUR + material costs (approximately 30 EUR depending on preferences)
Maximum 16 participants.
The school will be in English.
Age restriction: 16-99 years
Prior art experience is not necessary but a curious and open mind is mandatory. The application is open for everyone.
